So let me paint a picture for you: It's a warm summer's night. You and your perfect little family are lounging together on a pretty little picnic blanket in a perfect little spot overlooking the river. The hot breeze is making your daughters hair curl up in the cutest way and the temperature is just right for your other daughter to be wearing a light summer dress, toes bare. You smile, kindly, at all the people who are watching your cute kids with adoring eyes. Waiting 'til dusk, you light a sparkler to the amazement of your two year old who watches with wonder and curiosity reflecting in her eyes. The conversation is light and sweet as you all curl your toes in the cool grass, waiting ... read more
Squish
I wish you could see me right now. God is looking down through our car and laughing at my not so small behind squished into the very, very small middle spot of our backseat. It's amazing how little space there really is between two carseats. And my handsome hubby is in the drivers seat, also squished with his knees up towards the dashboard so miss Gracie's carseat sits properly on the cushion. Denver looks happy (but who knows for sure?) squished onto the front seat- his own behind taking up most of the armrest room while his big old body just flops any which way it pleases. Poor guy. He wasn't designed for sedan's. I've got a stream of funny road trip photos clogging up my instagram if ... read more
Kill Me With Cuteness, The Coffee Buddha, and a Little Watercolor How-To:
First of all, I die a thousand deaths every day with how cute Lilly is. Topping the random-things-my-two-year-old-does-that-make-me-die-of-happiness-chart today are the following: We play the "labels" game with Lilly on a regular basis. If you know us, you know we play it all the time. The game entails calling Lilly different names- silly, smart, minion, munchkin, toddler, goof-ball, chickie-loo, you get the idea. While I recognize the antagonizing nature of this "game", I love what it tells me about my daughter. Here's how it sounds. Mom: "Lilly, you're a minion!" Lilly: "EYES NOT A MINION MOM! EYES LILLY!" (foot stomp optional) Mom: "Lilly, you're a smart girl." Lilly: "Eye is NOT a ... read more
Amaretto Cakes: Love, Mommy
Hi girls! Mom, here. I am so enjoying you both right now. I wish I could bottle up your cuteness and keep it forever- save it for the days when you are grown up and no longer my small little minions. Sigh. But at 2 years 4 months, and 4 months and 1 week- I still have a while with you both before you get big. Look at that mop of a dog. Small pony, actually as he is approaching 80 lbs. with a full coat of dreads. We've been spending our summer days together, playing with Denver (read: jumping on him, poking his wet nose, chasing him around the house), baking treats, playing red light green light on the deck, and checking out how the garden is growing. There aren't too many "exciting" ... read more
