One of my all time favorite things to do as a kid was make Sculpey with my friends or my brothers probably every single day for years after school or on weekends. Sculpey is my favorite brand of oven bake polymer clay. It's easy to manipulate and stays soft forever until it's baked in the oven. It's so easy for kids to use. Currently, Sculpey is a major favorite in our house. Not just with Lilly either (she's 9 and in 3rd grade) but with Gracie who is 7 and in 1st grade and with Sally too who is 4. She has loved making things with Sculpey for awhile now though so that started when she was just 3 years old! We look at lots of inspiration on Pinterest. Here is a link to my Sculpey ... read more
Pittsburgh Children’s Theater Festival 2019
If you are local or drivable distance away from downtown Pittsburgh, My 16-19 is the annual Pittsburgh Children’s Theater Festival. This is one of our family’s favorite yearly events and something that makes our city so special! The last one we were in town to attend was the Children’s Theater Festival from 2017. If the weather cooperates, wear your walking shoes, bring a stroller and pack a baby carrier because there is SO much to do and see in our beautiful city. The Cultural District of Pittsburgh is home to some city’s best theaters, restaurants and events and is even fun just to take a walk through. This wonderful festival is designed to celebrate theater for ... read more
Soft Homemade PlayDough Recipe
Can you even handle Olive’s face here? She is giddy with excitement over our (finally) perfected soft homemade playdough recipe. And I’m just so excited too. We usually swim as much as possible but if I’m being honest there are only so many swimming-with-four-kids-days I can handle each week since they aren’t all able to swim by themselves yet. For us, “process art summer camp” will be our cool thing at home. We can invite friends over to join in, work on things for weeks if we feel like it, and make a mess outside. Win win win! Now obviously I’m always overflowing with ideas for art projects with my little kids- it’s a blessing and a curse truly, ha! But what do you do when you ... read more
