I picked up my camera today after a morning at the gym to snap a photo of Sally playing in the rain. She was in heaven wearing a raincoat and rain boots so I thought, what the heck- I can snap my 365 photo now. But picking up my DSLR and watching her splash in the giant puddles riddling our driveway, I saw her sweet personality shining. Fearless exuberance, deliberate motions repeated for the sake of joy. I couldn’t help but feel so grateful for my camera, for forcing me to slow down enough to see Sally in her own moment. We struggle a lot, this child and I, rarely making it through a day without tears and tantrums. But this was just goodness here.
