First of all- Happy Valentine’s Day, friends. May you always be in love, always feel loved, and never stop giving your own love away.

Gracie Jane is such a good little test subject. We (I?) took more photos this week to commemorate her first year of life. I love capturing her serious expressions and sweet, baby smile.
The shots above are straight out of the camera. The sun was really shinning in through that window that morning. They’re grainy and hazy but very, very sweet. My husband LOVES the far left picture- Gracie’s tiny little profile. Note to self though, don’t wear bright red pants when taking pictures of nakey-baby skin. I think that’s why Gracie’s skin has such a pinky/red color cast.
Those raised little eyebrows- sigh. I’d like to play more with simple baby shots- ones where they are holding a favorite item, or playing with a bright object against a white background. Simple. Cute. Fun.
Grace is so curious about my camera that it’s really hard to get a close up of her face. She gets closer and closer until she’s got her nose touching the lens.
For a change in background I dragged my headboard into the bathroom (haha). We have awesome light in there with a big, traditional window but also one great skylight. Too bad the bathroom can’t be my studio…
I also very much enjoy playing with the photos in photoshop. I like changing them to black and white or sepia tones. The color variations can completely change the mood of each picture which I think is a fun way to add variety to a small set of photos 😉
Anyway, I think we’ll give this one more try with a smash cake and call it a day.
