I’ve been struggling to make time for myself to paint or craft or do anything creative lately with Illy Lilly taking over all of my brain power, but I’ve felt that familiar spark of seeing-inspiration-everywhere that’s helped me carve out some time to craft again just for fun. These DIY painted snowmen ornaments are such a fun a easy holiday project and could be adapted in endless ways to match your holiday decor, be suitable four younger kiddos, or work for gifting!

Painted Snowmen Supplies:
Acrylic paint- I used the Hand Made Modern brand from Target because we had it handy but I also love the Martha Stewart brand colors because they’re perfect right out of the bottle!
Pieces of string, ribbon, pom poms, twine, glitter or whatever else you have handy for decorating!
Hot glue gun
Wooden snowmen (here’s an affiliate link to Wooden snowmen on Amazon but I found mine in packs of 6 at Hobby Lobby).

To make the cute ombré styles I made you basically start with your color out of the bottle and paint one section then add white in stages as you paint each of the following sections. This way you don’t waste any paint mixing ahead of time and the ombré works beautifully. Acrylic paint will dry quickly so you can easily add two or three coats of paint for a nice even matte finish. We don’t want our diy painted snowmen to be blotchy!

Once your snowmen are dry, use a hot glue gun to add the decorations.
Screw in an eye hook to the top and they’re finished! So easy.
I may adapt these for the girls and let them use different glue, paint pens and more glitter to make their own. If you give these a try make sure to tag me @sweetersidemom on Instagram so I can see and share!
Hope you are having a wonderful start to the holiday season!
xoxo
