The Quiet Magic of the DockATot Grand

January 5, 2017

We’ve been struggling in this house the past few weeks.  Struggling to help Gracie hear us, struggling not to get frustrated with her. She’s not NOT listening, but literally can’t hear us. It’s a tough one for her sisters to understand, they don’t know why Grace doesn’t listen to them, why she seems to ignore them or won’t join in their games, why Mom and Dad’s volume is at record high. They don’t like how Grace won’t watch TV with them and insists on playing on her iPod instead, volume blasting, creating even more noise to battle with their TV show.  Grace can’t hear us in the car which is super frustrating. It’s not safe to constantly turn around and yell and be looking in the rearview to see her signs and sign back. So we sometimes need to implement a no talking in the car rule which is hard on everyone. Our girls are still so young.

Instead of wallowing in all the things that are hard right now, we’ve tried to turn our attention toward things that are easy. Letting Gracie watercolor at the island instead of try to watch TV.  Reading and playing with puzzles or the dollhouse.  Blocks, legos, lots of snuggles.  It’s amazing to see how moods change when you eliminate all the noise.

Enter the DockATot! If you thought this neat pillow contraption was only for newborns this may be a welcome surprise.  It’s for bigger kids too!  My girls call the DockATot Grand their “boat” and it’s the new reading spot of choice.  They drag this thing all around the house and try to squeeze all three of them onto it together.  Even Denver tries to get his turns. Freaking dog.

Sally loves to nap on the DockATot. It helps me so much to get her settled in for a nap right in my office.  She falls asleep so peacefully watching me work and I can keep an eye on her and make sure she stays put and takes a solid nap.

The cover on every DockATot zips off and is washable/changeable which makes this a worry free product for me (seriously if I can’t wash it, I don’t buy it).  I have a feeling this would be the perfect little bed to have when we travel, both little girls still end up next to my bed on the floor almost every night, and it slips so easily back into the plastic bag that it came with.  Hello perfect place for babe to sleep at Grandparent’s house!

Have the happiest Wednesday!

xoxo
