prAna – Sustainable Clothing That Works For Real Life

December 1, 2016

I’m so thrilled to introduce the prAna brand to you lovely readers. This post was sponsered by prAna via the clothes I love to wear.  All thoughts, images and ideas remain my own.

My driveway is made of recycled concrete. Ten tons of crushed material salvaged from I-don’t-even-know-where  available to purchase as base layer for gravel driveways.  That’s all fancy code for mud.  Mud that I bought.  Well it’s better than mud I guess, since authentic real mud still exists underneath it. We walk around in that crud day in and day out, buckling kids into cars and vans and busses. I tromp through the tall grass with the dog where it’s usually muddy, or snowy, or sleety, or dirty, or just all-around gross in that picturesque very trendy adventure-girl sort of way.  But it isn’t pretty and my shoes and pants get dirty.  My hunters (that aren’t actually even mine) aren’t sparkling clean like all the beautiful lifestyle posts I see on instagram feeds that I love.  I spend an obscene amount of time not doing the laundry until I HAVE to… which makes getting dressed a challenge most days of the week. I tell myself I’m just saving water.

I don’t mind any of this, but I’d be lying if I said my clothes didn’t take a beating every day. I rarely buy anything that requires delicate handling and I love when my clothes are workhorse staples I know I can keep forever. I don’t want to have to worry if my everyday life will destroy the things I own and I like the piece of mind that comes from wearing comfortable well made garments that I feel good in.  But it is downright HARD these days to find clothes I feel good about wearing that aren’t going to  require ample amount of time washing and drying, or just not last long enough to make them worth the money.  Plus why is there such a lack of appropriate clothes for this season of motherhood?? I’ve shared the sadness I’ve felt over feeling too old and and too young for so many brands available for women. It’s such a challenge!

Enter prAna. A mindfully made, fair trade certified clothing brand designed to be versatile enough for work but also flexible and comfortable enough for any adventure. That sounds like every Mom, right?!

I can throw on these comfy clothes but actually feel put together and in control of my life when everything else is chaos. Namely Sally. She is chaos.

The prAna brand believes in a sustainable lifestyle and sources organic, sustainable materials used in everything they produce. This means buying and wearing the prAna brand helps the world we are leaving our children be just a little bit better. And that matters a lot.

This Mariette sweater dress is soft and comfy and super warm. I love it!

And the Crossing cord pants (below) are perfect too.  They actually fit comfortably around my waist which is saying something considering the mommy-tummy I still have going on there.  I HATE trying on pants that are technically “my size” but don’t accommodate any skin whatsoever in the midsection.  These prAna cords though- they don’t dig in, they move with me, and they sit at the perfect not too high or too low spot on my hips. Love. Excuse the grainy photo- just had to show you, no excess tummy hanging around!
