I’m so happy it’s December. Like giddy-can’t-sit-still-happy that makes me just smile for no reason! Everything about this season is my favorite but especially this year in our new (very old) log cabin fixer upper. While it’s still in the fixing upping stage (is a upping a real word?) we’ve been so excited to see how well our Christmas decorations fit into the log cabin living room. My pre-marriage house-daydreams never included interiors with timber walls but I am SO loving the way our home feels right now. Come see how I’ve partnered with IKEA to make our log cabin living room cozier than ever.
These SKOLD and SMANATE throw pillows are my favorite. So warm and inviting and they add a nice texture to the room without being overwhelming or TOO seasonal.
I added three large 24″x35″ RIBBA frames to the back wall of the room. This wall is a tough work-around because no matter what you do, the wonky logs make even the most level lines look off kilter. But I LOVE these big frames and how the girls artwork turned out inside. They each painted some evergreen trees one afternoon and I love the end result. I just need to fix the mat sizing issue. Oops!
Not even Denver can resist a couch covered in pillows!
Ah, my fireplace! I’m freaking out over here people. It’s come so far from what it was (yikes!) and I’m in love with how warm it makes the room feel.
Our new sign… all the heart eyes. Words To Live By shop is amazing and I can’t wait to share more with you guys about them soon! Such beautiful craftsmanship on this piece.
The VALLOBY runner is a nice way to add an accent rug here without having to go overboard with a giant area rug on top of our regular rug. It’s just traditional enough to go with the stone and wood really nicely while feeling fresh and updated.
These round cushions are also perfect for the kids. They plop down on them mostly to read which I just love!
I’ve a few things tucked away for Christmas from IKEA like these two toys. I’m swooning over the dollhouse (seriously SUCH a great price point and it’s super sturdy. So perfect for my (girls) dollhouse collection. I have it hidden but I’m going to set it out on Christmas even completely empty with a big bow on top for a surprise. I can’t wait to see what they want to do with it. Wonder who will live inside… And the rainbow abacus is going to be a hit for Sally and Grace. They’ll love counting and sliding around the colorful beads. Heck, I love counting and sliding around the beads! So much fun.
From November 20th-December 24th, IKEA will donate $1 for every children’s toy, book, game and accessory sold to help children around the world to enjoy safe and educational play environments. The funds raised will go to organizations such as Save the Children, UNICEF, Special Olympics and Room to Read. Plus, the IKEA Pittsburgh store will be collecting donations for Toys for Tots and MHY Family Services throughout the holiday season! You can find out more about IKEA’s “Let’s Play for Change” campaign at IKEA-USA.com.
Have a wonderful Monday and a great start to your week! Only a few more weeks to savor the Christmas magic. Definitely savoring every moment.
