Our new couch was delivered last week and all I can think about is how to hang art in this room. The logs throw me off a bit because the bold lines aren’t level and make the whole room look a bit wonky. Hanging art with hard lines seems to soften that a bit while still letting the logs show, but makes them less overwhelming looking (I think?? maybe I’m wrong… ha) Anyway, this wall is a big blank canvas since it doesn’t have windows and won’t be home to any electronic items. I just can’t decide how to go about hanging.. are there design rules for this type of thing?!
I mocked up four different ideas.
First…
Our big mirror with family photos on either side. We got this mirror from Pier 1 a long time ago for over our mantle. But this houses entire fireplace area needs an overhaul and I don’t think it’s safe to hang a mirror up just yet.
Next…
Three oversized art prints. These are random ones pulled from minted.com (my favorite!) and I love that they having big white matts and are uniform without being too “stiff”. I might like this option best? But three giant framed pieces of art will be $$$. Eek!
On to option 3…
The same thing as option 2 but with some size variation. Perhaps a bit less overpowering?
And last but not least…
A family photo as a centerpiece. I’m not sure which exact photo I’d put here (I have a few beautiful prints waiting patiently for frames) but as nice as this option is… It feels a bit dated to me. I have so many beautiful photographs to print I sort of want to put them in a nice arrangement in our upstairs hallway that’s bright and white and not put them against the logs. Decisions decisions.
What say you, internet? Any particular preference to one over the other?!
First world problems I know. But it’s fun so why not!
Also, ITS WEDNESDAY! (so it’s almost Friday, right?!)

I say the three art pictures! Your family photographs are beautiful but if you’re going to do a collection elsewhere I’d say the three art pics! š also your couch looks ridiculously comfortable.
