Dollhouse Update: Sources and Photos

February 19, 2016

I’ve been meaning to share a few photos of the girls’ dollhouse updates in progress but haven’t had a free moment until now! Below you’ll find a quick post with some (affiliate) links to the stuff I’m using inside to create a fun and fresh but still inexpensive and easy dollhouse update. Lots of supplies are from amazon, some are from Joann’s and Michael’s.

After having two different sets of “wallpaper” i.e. scrap book paper on our dollhouse over the years, it needed a fresh coat of paint. This multi purpose Rust-Oleum Spray Paint in flat white is my go to for projects.  It sprays on smooth and even and dries pretty quickly.

The next thing I did was add some flooring! This was really fun and gave the dollhouse a fresh and clean look while keeping it modern. I love this stuff: Barc Wood Adhesive Tape

The bathroom “tile” floor was done with washi tape applied in a staggared pattern so the stripes created the checkerboard grid. This was SO easy and I love how it looks! I can’t find the link for the exact tape I used but I found it at Michael’s.

All the furniture you see in our little house was created using a pack of balsa wood pieces. This super light weight and cheap wood is really easy to cut and sand (if needed). And you are able to get exactly the look you want! The pieces go together so well with hot glue. This Balsa Wood in Economy Bag  give you SO many pieces for under $10!

Our little teepee comes from “@littlelinz” – the dollhouse renovation MASTER. She is so incredible with what she creates. Head here to find more of her kits and pieces.

I made the little easel out of clothespins and balsa wood. I love the size and think it looks pretty believable. The wallpaper above is a roll of craft wrap from Joann’s.

The little pom rug in the photo above is one of my favorite things so far. All I did was glue itty bitty pom poms onto a scrap of white felt. I wish I had a rug that looked like that in real life!

If you head here: dollhouse plants :you’ll find a really fun collection of cute houseplants to add to your dollhouse. I’m am on the hunt for a big floorplant and maybe some hanging succulents.

Our living room needs lots of work but Lilly loves the sofa we made together. It’s a few scraps of remnant foam (the green kind) covered in a bit of fabric. We just wrapped each piece like a present and hot glued the edges.

I bought a big set of Bottle Brush Trees to paint/dye/decorate for different seasons. That’s a project Lilly and I might tackle over spring break. She loves the idea of having little seasonally appropriate things to swap in and out of each room. Who doesn’t?!

If you are obsessing over miniatures as much as we are, you will probably love my dollhouse ideas board on pinterest. Find it here >> Dollhouse Inspiration Pinterest Board.

That’s all I’ve got for today. I’ll have more to add soon, when we get some art up on the walls and maybe make a tiny set of balsa wood bunk beds! Stay tuned… but don’t hold your breath, ha! Our moving truck comes in a week so I’m feeling all sorts of crazy.

Have a great weekend.
