We’ve had so much going on behind the scenes here lately with Brandon in school and the girls schedules and a big exciting change that I hope we can share about soon… 😉  It’s been such a challenge for me to balance everything I want to do with everything I HAVE to do, all in the span of a single days worth of time that try as I might I just can’t make last any longer. The one car family thing has been wearing on me particularly during this season of life- I feel like I spend HOURS every day in the car (oh wait, I DO spend hours every day in the car) ha.
And the dinner window is painfully small with the girls getting off the bus around 4 and bedtime at 6:30. Somewhere in those two and a half hours, we need to pick up Daddy, take baths, read stories, snuggle, tickle, put on pajamas, tell the “Mama bedtime story” that I accidentally started (woops) oh and cook and eat dinner too.
It’s tough, all that running around. And I know SO many parents that do the exact same thing. Try as I might, even with the best meal plan ever, there are nights that fall through the cracks when we absolutely MUST eat dinner on the fly. As horrible as it is, I sometimes just straight up don’t eat anything when my stomach just can’t handle fast food. I remember a facebook conversation I had once with an old friend where we both commiserated that we’d GLADLY pay double and wait longer for healthy fast food. I seriously still can’t believe more healthy fast food doesn’t exist.
Enter Chick-Fil-A. I didn’t grow up on Chick-Fil-A and can remember being pleasantly hooked eating it in college. It was everything good about fast food but didn’t make me physically ill afterward. The little girls LOVE going to Chick-Fil-A with their Grammy which I think has become a sort of ritual that they look forward to when they get to spend time together. Â So sweet!
When I was invited to try Chick-Fil-A’s new #superfoodside I was so surprised by how delicious, healthy and thoughtful this menu item really was. Designed by renowned Atlanta based Chef, Ford Fry of Ford Fry Restaurants, the ingredients are so simple; Kale, broccolini (!!) toasted nuts, maple vinegrette and dried cherries.
The new kale salad side is now available nationwide in five or eight ounce servings, and priced starting at $2.59 for the smaller and $3.79 for the larger portion. Â An amazing, delicious, fresh, healthy choice for UNDER five bucks?! Good job Chick-Fil-A. Mom’s everywhere are rejoicing.
Bonus? Chick-Fil-A is the only fast food chain that can boast organic juice drinks in their kids meals! Yay!
We had so much fun meeting up with some fun bloggy friends- always nice to see Kelly and her kids from Pittsburgh Momtourage, and meet new friends like Stephanie from Lexie Loo, Lily, Liam and Dylan Too.
What do you think? Will you try it or have you tried it already? I’m hoping the response to this #superfoodside is so good that even more amazing healthy options become available soon.
Thanks Chick-Fil-A!
