Just popping in on this crazy Tuesday to link my next knitting video for you! The “knit” stitch is one of the two very basic knitting stitches you need to master for a good beginners foundation. I’m working on a blanket right now using ONLY the knit stitch. It’s simple, beautiful and easy! Give this a try and practice practice practice! You’ll notice I share how to hold the yarn in this video too- this might seem awkward at first but it will make you such a faster knitter in the long run if you use this method. I started a different way and I (((CANNOT))) believe how much easier it is for me to knit now using this method of holding the yarn. I’ll be back asap with the second foundation stitch. Until then- hope this keeps you moving forward toward loving knitting as much as I do.
I’m working on a blanket right now using only this stitch and I love how mindless it is. The perfect project to bring with you to all of your holiday gatherings and events. Keep it handy in the car and pick it up whenever you have some quiet time to relax!
Pick up any yarn you like (I’m using Big Twist worsted cotton) and the needle size your yarn calls for on its’ tag (get CIRCULAR needles). If you want a looser feel blanket go up a needle size. Simply cast on about 120 stitches and knit every single row until your blanket is as big as you want. This will certainly take some time but I promise it’s easy once you get going.
