Finished Patchwork Quilt with Double Gauze Backing!

December 16, 2015

Just popping in to share an overload of my new favorite quilt! I used squares of my favorite scraps, the cutest plus binding, and -the star of the show- an amazingly soft and comfy double guaze backing. This is the type of material used in all the popular infant swaddles and its so luxurious and cozy. It really adds a nice touch to this quilt!

^These binding clips have totally changed my life when it comes to hand binding! I can’t believe I never used them before! You can find them here.^

I finished it off with some hand quilting (totally not my fave but my sewing machine is currently out of commision!) but I do love the end result.

Hi! That’s really cute. I’ve been thinking of doing something similar. What did you use for batting?

I just used regular warm and white batting!

Just getting ready to back a quilt and was considering using double gauze. Some sites say to prewash it though. What do you do? I usually don’t prewash anything!

    Thanks!

I did NOT prewash my double gauze… it’s held up beautifully and hasn’t done anything weird in the wash/dry process (it gets washed A LOT). I’m like you – I usually never pre wash anything so… I might not be too helpful!

Is the front of the quilt made using quilting fabric?
