I’m trying to quell my sadness about being completely out of pink and red food coloring (we made cookies on this lovely snowy day) by compiling the perfect (mostly) pink and red Valentine Gift List for little girls. I’m swooning over everything and can’t wait to chose a few items to give to the girls! What are your favorites?!
- Zoku Slush and Shake Maker $20.00 and The Art of Slush Book $16.95 – how cool are these new slush makers from Zoku?! It’s taken everything in me not to give the two slush and shake makers (that Zoku so kindly offered to send to us!) to the girls before Valentine’s Day. They are going to freak out. Even in the winter we eat frozen treats once or twice every day. It will be so much fun to let the kids create their own concoctions, try recipes from their book, and just know exactly what is going into the frozen treats my kids love so much. Stay tuned next week for a blog post dedicated to these new Zoku slush makers, and for some fun recipes to try out on your own! We’ll also be sharing our recipes and ideas on instagram (@sweetersidemom #sweetersideslushandshake)
- Crayola Twistable Crayons $4.49Sophi and Lili for North American Bear Co. $20 each – we first used this with Gracie’s therapist and have loved them ever since. They last much longer than a traditional crayon and make Lilly feel like she is coloring with something extra special (plus, little sis can’t chew the crayon inside the plastic tube and the crayon itself is much more difficult to break).
- Sophie and Lili for North American Bear Co. $20 each – Have you heard of Sophi and Lili? I adore everything they make but these ballerina dollies are just too cute for words. These are unique in that they are all one piece – no limbs to be ripped off or delicate joint seams to be worn out. Of course my dance obsessed littles will LOVE toting them around.
- Dana’s Bakery Macaron Variety Pack $30 – I don’t withhold sweets around here if you haven’t noticed… but I love making the sugar worth it by giving the girls more than your regular old run of the mill chocolate candy. If you haven’t tried a Macaron, or your kids haven’t, Dana’s Bakery is an awesome place to start. She ships nation wide and her prices are incredibly reasonable for these handmade french confections. They even have a package of macarons that look like conversation hearts!
- FAAS Design Cotton Candy Moccasin – I have no words for the level of cuteness these moccasins contain. They are a super soft felt with leather sole that is perfect for wearing around the house in the winter (anyone else have little ones who refuse to wear socks even when it’s -8??) There are tons of handmade moccs popping up these days but I am loyal to FAAS through and through. The craftsmanship and attention to detail taken in designing each tiny shoe is completely beyond compare.
- I Am Amelia Earhart by Brad Meltzer $9.35 and The Biggest Valetine Ever by Steven Kroll $3.99 – you know I always hit the book store for gifts. And these two books are so awesome! The Amelia one is from a new series called “Ordinary People Change the World” which, quite simply, explains it all. The Biggest Valentine is an old standby favorite that we surprisingly don’t have in our collection yet.
- Training Chopsticks from AJ Panda $6.50 – We’ve been big into trying new foods around here, experimenting in the kitchen, and letting the kids work on their chef skills by helping Mommy and Daddy to prepare meals. Anything that gets my girls excited to try new and different foods is great by me. We ordered our favorite take out last night from a great Chinese place- and Lilly wanted to try everything just so she could test out the chopsticks! Of course that didn’t go very well and there was friend rice and pad thai noodles all over the place- but these kids training chopsticks will be really fun to use during lunch when we’re whipping up some meals together.
- VONBON Blush Chevron Muti Use Clothes – Set of 2 $39.50 – if there is something I love above all other things, it is blankets. In all forms. These multi use “cloths” are absolute perfection for little ones who need their lovies to work in a number of different places – bed, car, couch, with Mommy and Daddy, to wrap up a baby doll, to drape over a chair for tent making, to wipe up sneaky spills. These are so beautifully made- soft and professionally finished to last and last. A great multi purpose and truly multi use gift.
- Heart Sunnies $55.00 CrewCuts – are these not precious?! Of course junky shades are all over the place but the CrewCuts sunnies are made for little ones to use without falling apart at the touch of a feather. Kids can over stretch them onto their sweet faces without the plastic snapping in two AND they actually protect our sweet babies eyes from the rays of the sun. Beyond that – the hearts are just fabulous, aren’t they?!
- Kid’s Turkish Hooded Poncho Towel in PINK $50.00 from Of One Sea – A favorite brand I’ve stumbles across recently is Of One Sea. A company with a unity-inspired mission and fantastic family clothing items. Nothing has caught my attention more than these hooded poncho towels that just made it into their shop. So what if they originate in Hawaii and grace bodies of the beach kids enjoying the sun there? I’d be perfectly fine to use them all winter long, right here in the snow, after my sweeties get out of the bathtub. But ok, ok, I’d totally take them to the beach, too 😉
