We were at the store this week, Gracie buckled into her car seat and set in the deep well of the shopping cart, Lilly walking happily beside me, when Gracie stuck her little arm out and said clear as day, “BYE!” to a lady as we were walking out the door.
The lady stopped and turned to Lilly and said, “Goodbye, sweetheart!”
Lilly sort of glanced at the lady then back at me (clearly about to say, I didn’t say bye, Mom) when Gracie did her best big arm wave and said, “BYE! BYE!” again.
This poor woman did a kind of jump and double take as she peered into the shopping cart to see Grace waving furiously repeating, “BYE BYE BYE!” as loudly as she could manage.
My little peanut is surprising us all lately as her teeny tiny- but definitely loud- voice makes its appearance into our lives. With just five little words in her entire spoken vocabulary (Lilly, Daddy, bird, MINE and BYE) we are seeing a sassy little attitude emerge that is sure to give us a run for our money. Grace Jane is fiercely defiant and stubbornly independent.
Trouble with a big, capital T.

We took the tiniest of getaways this weekend, driving up to Morraine State Park for two days to hang out with the family. As usual, simple is best and we thoroughly enjoyed being together.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

I swear I have pictures of three of my girls in that SAME twisted tree at Morraine! 🙂
I love a simple fun weekend like that!
And on another note I believe that five words will quickly multiply and soon, you won’t remember your little one not talking at all…you might even pray for bedtime so you can get a little peace and quiet. I’m not speaking from experience though. Yes I am. 😉
