Munchies For Munchkins

February 1, 2013

For the past few weeks I’ve been working on something to share with all of you…

Cover Copy

A free cookbook that includes some of my favorite “recipes” to make for my kids! Included are 2 recipes each for Baby Purees, Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, and Dinner. I LOVE cooking for my kids, and including them in meal time, but sometimes can’t think of any fresh ideas. Trying new foods and whipping up new meals is as fun for me as it is for my kids. There’s no guarantee that a child will always eat what you put in front of them (I’m an avid cook, cookbook collector, recipe try-er, and weird food taster and even growing up with me as their mother- my kids are still the boss of what goes into their mouths). The best I can do is to offer varying options that at least present the opportunity for new tastes to develop. It’s never too late, or too early, to start introducing new meals to our kids. Options are the spice of life and enjoying meal time and togetherness is an incredible way to spend time as a family.

Here’s a sneak peak at one of the baby food recipes I’ve included. We love it right from the squeeze pouch (that’s how my daughter, Grace, prefers to eat most of her food), but it’s equally delicious served traditionally from a spoon. My almost-three-year-old even loves to grab one out of the fridge as a smoothie-esque snack! (If you are interested in knowing more about making your own squeeze pouch baby food, click here.)

You can also follow @sweetersidemom on instagram. I’ll use the hashtag #munchiesformunchkins to gather all of my own IG kids food photos but feel free to tag up your own kid-friendly food pics for me to see! I’d love to feature them on my blog every once in a while so we can all stay inspired to cook good food for our sweet little munchkins.

I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as we do! Share them, try them, let me know what you think.

Love it! Definitely sharing with all my friends!

You should put more images on this page to pin (especially the lunch ideas one. the breakfast ideas are great too). That would be an easy way to get lots more pinterest followers (sorry, my brain is almost always thinking business!).

[…] Introduce new vegetables during your least stressful meal. For us this is lunch time. I have the girls to myself, no rushing around, no excitement of Daddy being home. We can sit together and talk about what is happening on our plate. This is the time when Lilly feels most safe to tell me what she thinks about new foods and make special requests. Can you spot the veggies in the lunch ideas below? (This is a page from a free cookbook I created a few months ago available here.) […]
