Father’s Day Weekend

June 19, 2012

This weekend was Father’s day weekend. I got the rare pleasure of not only celebrating with my wonderful husband and father-in-law, but also my own incredible Dad who made it out to Pittsburgh for a weekend visit with my Mom and brothers. As an added bonus, my Mom’s brother and wife joined us from Kentucky to give us a beautiful bird who was causing some unwelcome mischief at their house with it’s female counterpart.

Like usual, Friday through Sunday passed in the blink of an eye and I’m sitting here now, on Monday, calm as can be. Our hurricane weekend was filled with food and family and a whole lot of fun moments. Moments that, once again, bring me so much joy and happiness. Very little downtime was found but somehow I feel peaceful today.  Lilly and I are back into our normal swing but only for the morning as we are waiting anxiously for my best friend to arrive to spend the first half of the week with us.  Grace is stretched out on the floor playing, and I’m faithfully resuming my Grey’s Anatomy catch up while I wait for Gracie’s Developmental Therapist to get here.

Chaotic as it was, our weekend was beautiful- hope yours was too.

My Aunt Donna and Uncle Eddie came bearing gifts. Lilly loves her new piggy!

Mom and her brother Eddie (and Gracie of course haha).

It was so nice to see my brother Michael. He just graduated college and we finally get to see him more often! I’m sorry for him that he had to leave beautiful, sunny, South Carolina, but I’m so happy he’s back in our state! Sorry, Mike, nothing beats having you back.

My Mom’s amazing artichoke dip. How cute is that new artichoke baking dish?!

Those little ears are so incredibly precious.

Brother love.

My little chubs in her new tutu from Aunt Lynda- another fabulous diva addition to our dress up clothes.

Diva; n. often referred to by the name of “Lilly”. ex. This diva is cranky!

But oh so sweet.

My Dad and his new Buddy.

MomMom and Grace.

Uh oh… what did Brandon get?

An enemy pint glass!

The gentle giant.

Kisses for Uncle Sam.

Sleeping beauty.

Gifts for Dad.

Action shot (thanks Haley haha) of the mussels in action.

Haley really did help!

Mussels Fra Diavolo using this recipe. They are incredible.

Lemon berry cheesecake tart and chocolate mousse cake! Happy father’s day Dad!

This is seriously my new favorite summer dessert. Courtesy of Rachel Ray.

Please take a moment to appreciate my daughter’s “say cheese!” face. I can’t take it.

And, to round out the meal, a delicious slice of blueberry pie! Yum.

A wonderful weekend of family and friends.
