I’m strangely excited about creating my first pattern EVER, now available in my Etsy shop. As you probably know by now, I am obsessed with these blankets and quite frankly believe every child needs one, every adult will want one, and that they make the most perfect gift ever. The yarn I use is a high quality, super soft, brilliantly colored alpaca that allows for lasting use without damaging wear and tear. I know from experience that these modern blankets turn into family heirlooms and items the recipient will treasure forever.
It’s an immediate download so you can get started right away (linked at the bottom of this post)! The pattern is simple, straightforward, and perfect for beginner crocheters and experts alike. It takes me a few days to whip up one of these beauty’s but if you are new to crochet or like to take it slow, I’d say to a lot about an hour for each block of color. You can easily alter the design to use different kinds of yarn, different size hooks, or even switch out the single crochets for doubles to give your blanket a looser wear. The black and white blanket pictured below is extra plush because I double the yarn for the entire thing! So versatile.

Without further {gorgeous} adieu, here it is. The first ever pattern from The Sweeter Side of Mommyhood!

What brand of yarn do you use now that the Joann’s yarn isn’t sold anymore? I’m looking for something cozy but washable for my newborn 🙂 Thanks!

Please disregard that question! I now see the answer is in your pattern!

No problem 😉

Love your blankets. They are so simple to make, yet beautiful! What yarn is the round ball? The long skein looks like its blue sky alpaca, but specifically which kind? Thanks so much.

hello, I would want to know which type(chap) of hook use you? The Tunisian hook? Which type(chap) of stitch also thank you
sweeter-side-of-mommyhood says
I do not use a tunisian hook, I use a size J usually depending on the yarn.
