I’m sort of exploding lately with creative energy. Every fiber of my being is constantly shouting at me to make something…
So that’s what I do.
All day, every day.
Well, ok, maybe not all day. Maybe not every day. But frequently. Often. For many hours a week.
After receiving my Wacom Tablet for Christmas, I’ve been scheming a way to make a simple carry-all tablet sleeve to house the drawing pad, ipad, and my moleskin notebook/sketchbook. I picked up some linen and a few 1/8 yard pieces of “fruit” fabric for the embellishments. I already had scrap batting on hand as well as the black and white striped binding. I’m in love with the black and white striped binding. Oh yes. So in love.
The total cost of this quilted sleeve came to $9.00 even, which I’d venture to say is quite a bit less than I would have spent on any other option I found online.
Did you know you can make continues YARN out of T-SHIRTS? Hopefully your mind is just as blown as mine… T-shirt yarn is incredible.
My t-shirt yarn rug is coming along slowly but surely. This will be a snail-paced project as it takes every ounce of strength I have to hook this rug. The knots are tight as hell.
It’s pretty awesome and I can’t wait to have it in my kitchen. Plus, it’s like totally FREE, man, which is totally awesome too.
Also finished and mailed this beautiful Kelly Green blanket a few days ago. I love the colors and the subtle change in greens. Soooo up my alley.
Last but not least, my favorite project of this year so far-
This adorable little mock-up dress for Lilly. I made it out of a Paper Clouds Apparel t-shirt. If you haven’t checked them out yet GO DO IT! The brain child of the ever talented Robert Thornton, this sparkling new apparel brand sells shirts that feature artwork created by individuals with special needs. 50% of their profit goes back to helping special needs organizations which is my favorite part of all. Going through what we’ve gone through with Grace, I think everyone should take a page from PCA’s book and give back wherever they can. Something is in the works right now so that hopefully I too, can start contributing to PCA’s incredible mission.
2013 is looking crafty so far. So much more to come. So much more to do!
Stay warm this week, friends- it’s only 3 degrees here and I’m currently attempting to convince Denver that he does NOT, in fact, have to pee right now. It’s not going well.
Ciao!
