The doll house so epicly (not sure that’s a word, sorry) started over the summer is finally finished! I’m pretty sure I’m more excited than my girls will be on Christmas morning… maybe. But hopefully not!
If you missed the building post you can read it here. Special thanks to Uncle Nick for constructing my dream home, and to my Dad and my girls’ PopPop for priming and painting it so perfectly.
To recap: I found all of the furniture in a “huge lot” on ebay for $20.00 (plus shipping which brought the grand total just under $25.00). Spray paint- my trusty favorite- covered up the ugly colors and updated all the furniture into cute little pieces perfect for the newly papered walls.
The walls were all done using bright scrap book paper. Each piece ran about $0.49 on sale so that was right up my budget’s alley. After trying (and failing) to plaster the walls with modge podge, I settled on double stick tape which worked beautifully, can be changed easily, and didn’t make a crazy mess of everything in sight. It’s not perfect… but it’ll do!
I hemmed and hawed about who to invite over to inhabit our little model home. There are adorable little animals so aptly named “Calico Critters”- they are velvety and cute and definitely critter esque. Cows. Dogs. Hedgehogs. Chipmunks. Mice.
But then my Mom and I found Olivia and her happy piggy family and voila! They made the cut. (Lilly collects piggy banks incase you are curious about our pig obsession… I might have collected piggy banks too when I was a kid, and piggy ornaments… and piggy stuffed animals… So maybe I collect pigs- moving on.) Toys R Us also carries a similar Peppa Piggy family but they were not in stock so that made my choice pretty easy.
Anyway, without further adieu, here it is!
I’m not sure what it is about the washer and dryer but they’re totally rad.
And of course I had to sneak in a little giraffe. Can’t help it.
Sorry bout those bare walls, will be rectifying that soon.
And who doesn’t love a yellow kitchen?!
So Merry Christmas little girls. Mommy and everybody else loves you both to pieces.
